Why this matters

In the US, the Department of Justice's ADA Title II rule requires state and local governments to make web content, including PDFs, meet WCAG 2.1 AA: by 26 April 2027 for places with 50,000 or more people, and 26 April 2028 for smaller ones and special districts.

In the UK, the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018 already apply to councils, schools and other public bodies, including documents published on their websites.

Most PDFs exported from Word or scanned are not tagged, so screen readers read them as a jumble or not at all. This checker shows you where you stand. Fixing a PDF takes a minute, and you see the result before paying.

What the checker looks at

An automated check can't judge everything. A person should still confirm that image descriptions and reading order make sense.
